The opening round of the 2008 ATVA Extreme Dirt Track Nationals braved severe storms and tornados touching down within miles of the track on Friday's practice day but Saturday's skies cleared and 292 entries at the series kick off attacked the blue grooves of Twin Creeks Raceway in Greenbrier, Arkansas.

Defending national champion Harold Goodman led 17 Pros around the holeshot during the Pro main but made a bobble in the early laps which allowed
Mitch Reynolds to take over the lead. From there on out, Reynolds capitalized on his familiarity of the circuit to hold off Goodman and take the win, a first in the EDT Pro ranks for Reynolds.

"It's been a dream of mine for a long time. It feels great to take my first National win. Now, I want to keep repeating it." Reynolds said from atop the podium after the main.

Goodman held on for a second place finish. "I was leading for the first 5 laps and then made a mistake." he stated, accepting and assessing his race fate.

Brad Riley raced from 7th place at the start to finish third overall in the Pro class.
