(WORCS Round 4 / Auburn, WA / April 19-20)

Motoworks/Can-Am’s Josh Frederick leaped back into the forefront in round 4 as he battled not only stiff competition but sleet and snow to win the Open Pro and Pro Main event. DATS Racing’s Robbie Mitchell laid his claim on a 1st place finish during Saturday’s Pro Production class and kept his momentum to take 2nd place behind Frederick in Sunday’s Pro main event.

Pacific Raceways in Auburn, Washington, located about 20 miles SE of Seattle, hosted it’s inaugural WORCS event and what an
event it was. The track featured a 1.5 mile motocross section and several miles of tight, single-line trails that wound through the dense woods that surround the facility. The weekend’s event attracted over 600 entries despite cold temperatures and the ominous threat of snow and sleet that was forecast for the region. As predicted, the unseasonably late snow and sleet fell but very little accumulation of winter’s fury had very little impact on the track conditions.
Frederick tangled with Yamaha’s Dustin Nelson for the better part of the latter laps but was able to make his move during the last
lap. “Dustin bobbled a bit because of his brake issue and I was able to pass him then,” said Frederick. “Soon after that I caught up to
Mitchell and I was able to get past him, and it all worked out.” The podium featured Frederick 1st, Mitchell 2nd and Nelson 3rd.
